Patty Duke, Oscar Winner and Sitcom Star, Dies at 69
Patty Duke, who won a best supporting actress Oscar for her performance as Helen Keller in The Miracle Worker and starred as two cousins on her own sitcom, has died, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. She was 69.
So unexpected. She was one of those people I expected to never die.
Such a talent. And the crush of so many kids back in the 1960s.
Her advocacy on behalf of those suffering from depression was groundbreaking. Everyone should read her book, A Brilliant Madness: Living with Manic Depressive Illness, and her autobiography, Call Me Anna.
Rest in peace.
