Ritchie’s Room has uploaded a 360-video to YouTube shot with the Insta360 camera from China. This camera is the “big brother” of the Insta360 Nano.

Because Time Warner Cable’s Internet service is such shit, I can barely view the 720p version, never mind better versions that go all the way up to 2K.

If you have good Internet service, watch the video after the break at the highest possible resolution you can do and let me know what you think of the quality. I can’t judge.

Mike, I ran the video on an iPad Pro with a wireless connection to my Internet account which runs at a very stable 120 Mbps on fiber optic.

The picture was stable and clear. The voice sounded a bit gruff, but that could be the guy making the film. Motion looked good and the narrator was able to stand at one side of the scene and be seen at the opposite side.

So yes, it works, but I expect Google would need to sharply upgrade their server farm if a lot of people were to do what I did this morning!

    Good demo.

Forgot to mention, I watched the 4K version.

      So damn jealous. Thanks.

EDIT to add: Eureka! I should try it at an Apple Store. Sometimes the WiFi is wicked fast (they try to have enough for everybody, unlike other places).

I think that VR is interesting, but I feel it is a long way from commercial reality. Will be interesting for you to see how it evolves. I doubt I will be around that long.
