Fodder For The Trump Landslide

U.S. Sent Cash to Iran as Americans Were Freed [alternate link]

The Obama administration secretly organized an airlift of $400 million worth of cash to Iran that coincided with the January release of four Americans detained in Tehran, according to U.S. and European officials and congressional staff briefed on the operation afterward.

Wooden pallets stacked with euros, Swiss francs and other currencies were flown into Iran on an unmarked cargo plane, according to these officials. The U.S. procured the money from the central banks of the Netherlands and Switzerland, they said.

Wow. What were they even thinking?

When Carter was in office, Iran held 52 — not 4 — American hostages. For 444 days.

The day Reagan was sworn in as President, Iran flew the hostages out. They feared Reagan.

They will also fear Trump.

Not everyone has forgotten.

Democrats are reluctant to face up to the reality of life. They think everything can be solved through talk.

Not everything can. Sometimes things really have to go like this:

Kalifornia CLIP

Not everyone is an adult who is amenable to reason.

And for Obama to authorize this while simultaneously droning people is just incredible.

He just handed Trump the election.

You know we live in an age of perception and marketing. And it seems I have been under its sway when it comes to the issue of the 444 days. But if Iran wanted to make Carter look good, why not release them before Reagan took office? Thanks for the correction. But will people change their minds?

      • Iran didn’t want to make Carter look good. They wanted a new President who would unfreeze assets and trade them weapons, and US voters were happy to oblige because we’re idiots.

Politifacts got this wrong. I saw with my own eyes that Iran wanted no part of dealing with Reagan. Respect and fear got those guys released. Let’s not confuse present day words with factual history.

  2. 444 days of negotiations that resulted in the hostage release. Reagan wasn’t even involved. Results of tangible work, not magic, are my criteria for success.
