This so misses the point (Twitter; which I use as a search engine now):
He goes on to make the point that price drives sales — which I’ve said all along — but if people look at that 2% revenue increase and think it sucks, it doesn’t.
The Mac, the iPad, the iPhone, even the Apple Watch, aren’t just about hardware sales.
They’re about app and service sales.
Enlarging the population of them potentially increases revenue to developers and to Apple.
And that upcoming iPhone 8 that will cost both kidneys (a US$1,100 base price is now being bandied about to soften us up!)? That will be a huge driver for new buyers. It’s the first iPhone I really, really, really want to have.
