140 Characters, the Defining Quirk of Twitter, Becomes a Relic of the Past
Twitter is expanding its character limit on text posts to 280 characters from 140, starting with a subset of users.
And:
Even though Twitter has been hinting at the change for more than a year, it is rolling out the longer limit slowly for fear of alienating its most hardcore users.

Too late!
With close to a half million tweets, I was as hardcore as they came.
They didn’t give a shit. My timeline was flooded with extraneous Likes that destroyed my ability to see tweets from people I Followed.
There are so many ways Twitter could be improved. Dropping the character limit and flooding Timelines with Likes is all they can think of.
The leadership should resign. They still don’t know what the fuck to do with it.
