That Thing Called Luck

Everyone wants luck. Good fortune. The breaks.

Derren Brown created a rumor about a lucky dog statue in a town. Aside from that, he arranged for some people to have lucky encounters.

What happened next reaffirms what I’ve read in the two brilliant books by Max Gunther: The Luck Factor: Why Some People Are Luckier Than Others and How You Can Become One of Them and How to Get Lucky: 13 techniques for discovering and taking advantage of life’s good breaks.

Luck can be right in front of your face, but if you fail to notice it …

After the break is the UK program (not pirated; it’s on Brown’s own account!) on YouTube. It’s worth a watch.

The Secret of Luck | Derren Brown’s The Experiment FULL EPISODE

Related to this is a delightful silent movie all about luck — and belief. As Brown pointed out, luck isn’t so much a thing as it is a belief about a thing.
