Daydream VR’s Last Stand?

Lenovo Mirage Solo VR Headset Now Available For Pre-Order

Lenovo introduced the world’s first standalone Daydream VR headset at the Consumer Electronics Show 2018 in January. It brought to life the idea of a VR headset that doesn’t require a smartphone or any cables to function. While it has its own internal specifications, it’s based on Google’s Daydream platform. If you were interested in picking one up back then, then time to open your wallets because Lenovo is now taking pre-orders for the Mirage Solo.

The release timing raises questions:

It costs $399.99 and will be shipped on May 11th. That’s the first Friday after Google’s I/O 2018 conference[.]

That makes me wonder if that’s the best Daydream VR will have at that conference.

We no longer hear anything from Google about Daydream VR. And what happened to all of the Daydream-Ready phones?

ZTE hasn’t followed up the Axon 7 with anything. It seems the rumored Axon 9 might have been a hoax.
