Weekend reading was Astroball: The New Way to Win It All by Ben Reiter. This is an improvement on the sabermetrics used in Moneyball.
In-progress reading is The Black Hand: The Epic War Between a Brilliant Detective and the Deadliest Secret Society in American History by Stephan Talty. NYPD Detective Joseph Petrosino was called “The Italian Sherlock Holmes.” He might have been better. Holmes relied on files. Petrosino apparently had an eidetic memory!
