TV: Nightflyers, Episodes 1 & 2

They spent some money on sets here.

And they have a fine cast.

I read the novella too long ago to remember any of it. It’s probably just as well. Things change in adaptations.

This isn’t the usual SF, with its crappy clichés. This is more like the movie Alien, with gore but less terror — more suspense than terror. A seeming haunted house in space. But there’s nothing here that makes you jump out of your seat in surprised fright. Perhaps that’s odd.

I hesitate to recommend this just two episodes in. I’m still stinging from my initial praise of that debacle, Missions.

All I can report is that I’ve liked what I’ve seen and I’m in for the remaining eight episodes.
